Cable Cars in Istanbul+ (Introduction, Price, Routes)

If I had learned about the cable cars in this city before traveling to Istanbul, I would never have taken the cable car.

As in the article “How Much Does Istanbulkart Cost?” I mentioned using Istanbulkart; I used a lot of public transportation in this city, one of which was Cable Cars in Istanbul.

I suggest you definitely use your Istanbul Card to pay for the cable car because it costs less. You can read the Istanbul Card purchase guide using the link I posted above.

I will try to tell you all the experiences I had from riding the cable car in Istanbul in this article so that you have enough information before getting on this car and deciding whether to ride the cable car or not.

In this charming city, there are two cable car lines named Eyüp – Piyer Loti Teleferik line and Maçka – Taşkışla Teleferik line, which you can easily find on your trip to Istanbul; just read the rest of the article carefully.

You should know that the cable car route of this city was not built as a tourist attraction, but it was built for the welfare of the people who live on top of the hill. And its ride is only 3 minutes, and it is not very high.

I stood in line for about 40 minutes for a 3-minute ride and was bored during that time. So, if you don’t like to stand in line, I suggest you don’t ride Istanbul’s telkabins.

Each cable car can carry about six people, so you can safely ride these cars as a group.

From the name Eyüp – Piyer Loti, you can understand that this cable car is located in the Eyüp district of Istanbul and can take you to Piyer Loti hill.

If you want to reach this cable car, you have to take bus line 37T, whose stop is in Taksim Square, and get off at Pazarici station 16 stops later. You can reach this cable car after 8 minutes of walking.

This cable car passes over a cemetery and takes you to a terrace on Piyer Loti Hill. There is a bazaar and several cafes, such as Rabia Kadin Cafe, where you can treat yourself to a drink and see the beautiful view of the Golden Horn from the top of the hill.

In my opinion, it is only worth riding this cable car if you reach the top of the hill at sunset and see the Golden Horn.

Pierre Loti Istanbul cable car price in 2023 is about 15 to 20 lira, and it is open from 8 to 23, and people can take the cable car every 5 minutes and go to the top of Pierloti Hill.

If you like to see Democracy Park and Maçka Park from above, this telescope is for you. This route, which is also known as the TF1 cable car, connects Maçka and Taşkışla neighborhoods. So, if you were in Maçka, Şişli, Istanbul, You can ride the cable car.

By using this cable car line, you can go to Taksim Square and, according to the above, take the bus to Pazarici station and from there, move towards Eyüp – Piyer Loti Teleferik line to experience riding two Istanbul cable cars in one day.

In conclusion

Riding a cable car was not a new experience for me, and since these cable cars were not very high, I was not excited to ride them. Still, if you have never had the experience of riding a cable car, you can experience riding a cable car in Istanbul.

As I said, you may have to stand in line for a while to get on the cable car, so make sure you have water and food with you so that you don’t feel hungry while standing in line.

In the end, I would like you to share your opinion about the Istanbul cable car in the comments section and tell me whether it is worth it or not to ride the cable car in Istanbul.
