That’s why I decided to learn more about sea creatures during my trip to Dubai. Before my trip to this city, I had read about the aquariums of this city, and I knew that the Dubai Mall Aquarium and the Atlantis Aquarium are among the best aquariums in the world located in Dubai.

Dubai mall aquarium vs Atlantis aquarium

Choosing one of these two aquariums to visit is difficult because both have unique features.

These two aquariums are about 20 miles (30 kilometers) apart. It is better to visit only one of them in order not to waste time because they are far away from each other.

Before reading the rest of the article, it is better to know that the other name of Atlantis Aquarium is The Lost Chambers Aquarium, and the reason for its name is because of its interior decoration, which is simulated from the lost city of Atlantis.

Dubai Mall Aquarium vs. The Lost Chambers Aquarium in terms of location

The Lost Chambers Aquarium is located in the 5-star Atlantis Hotel in Palm Jumeirah. You can visit it for free by booking a room in this hotel.

This aquarium is far from the city center, and the closest station to it is the Jumeirah Palm Gateway Tram station.

To go to this aquarium, you need to take the red subway, get to the Sobha Realty subway station, get off the subway, go to exit 2 and go to the Tram.

Board the Tram at the Dubai Marina station and enjoy your leisurely ride. Get off at the Jumeirah Palm Gateway Tram station and walk to the monorail. You can easily find the monorail by following the signs.

After a short walk, you will reach the Gateway station, where you can board the monorail and go to Atlantis Hotel.

I didn’t take a taxi to go to this aquarium, and that’s why I spent a lot of time going there, but if you want to go to this aquarium, I suggest you take a taxi to get there faster.

You can go there by taxi by paying about 100 dirhams, but the cost of using the metro and Tram to get there is about 30 dirhams in 2023.

Unlike the Lost Chambers Aquarium, Dubai Mall Aquarium is located in the center of the city and the Dubai Mall, and visitors can easily access it by just taking the red metro and getting off at the Dubai Mall station.

In terms of location and accessibility, Dubai Mall has a better location than Atlantis Hotel. So, if you don’t want to travel a long distance, it’s better to go to the Dubai Mall Aquarium.

Comparison of these two aquariums in terms of visiting experience

The aquarium, which was built in the Dubai Mall, has a huge tank with a capacity of 10 million liters, which houses about 140 species of animals and has a 270-degree corridor that visitors can visit.

This matter surprised me from the beginning, and that’s why I decided to visit the Dubai Mall Aquarium first. After buying the ticket, I entered this underwater zoo through a corridor full of fish.

This aquarium had different sections, and different types of fish were kept in their sections. In addition to fish, other animals, such as otters and penguins, were also present there.

One of the interesting points of this aquarium was the presence of simulators that taught children about fish, and children could see different simulations by pressing buttons.

In the continuation of my journey in this aquarium, I reached my favorite part. I boarded a boat with a number of people where its bottom was made of glass, and I could closely observe the movement of fish underwater.

After about 1 hour, I visited most parts of this aquarium. Since it was 2:00 PM, I decided to go to the restaurant of this aquarium and, after a little rest, move towards Atlantis Aquarium.

After eating, I went to Atlantis Aquarium and arrived there at 4:00 PM. When I got there, I was really surprised because it was built on the basis of the ruined city of Atlantis, which had more beautiful decorations than the Dubai Mall Aquarium.

Stepping into this aquarium is like walking into an Indiana Jones movie because it has a mysterious environment.

In this aquarium, various sculptures had very good details, and that’s why I was excited from the beginning.

After walking for a while, I reached a part where there was a big aquarium, and people were standing in front of the glass to watch different fishes.

Different species of fish lived there, and I witnessed the living ecosystem of marine animals up close.

The fish were swimming next to the ancient ruins and gave me the feeling of being in a centuries-old environment.

This aquarium also had different parts, like the Dubai Aquarium, but because of its mysterious theme, it was a little dark.

One of the most interesting parts of this aquarium is that people can breathe underwater by wearing a special cap and swimming with fish and sharks.

I could not experience this due to lack of time, but I will definitely return to this aquarium in the future and experience swimming in the aquarium.

After an hour, my visit was over. There was also a store at the exit where people could buy souvenirs.

In my opinion, Atlantis Aquarium is more worth visiting than Dubai Mall Aquarium because it is based on the Atlantis theme and has more mysterious environments.

Suppose you have traveled to Dubai with your children. In that case, it is better to visit the Dubai Mall aquarium because there are different sections for teaching children where they can learn about different species of aquatic animals.

But if you have gone to this city alone or with your partner, visiting Atlantis Aquarium will be more exciting for you.

Comparison of these two aquariums in terms of ticket prices

The ticket price of the Lost Chambers Aquarium is 130 dirhams for adults, and children under 8 years old can enter this aquarium by paying 95 dirhams.

You may be charged more to visit some areas. For full access to all sections, you need to pay around 450 dirhams.

Dubai Mall Aquarium ticket price for adults is about 200 dirhams, and children under 2 years are free. You have to pay about 250 dirhams to visit all the sections.
