Florya Beach Istanbul | Opening Hours + Price + My Experience

On one of the sunny days of my stay in Istanbul, I decided to go to one of the city’s beaches and relax. I researched Istanbul beaches and finally decided to visit Florya Beach.

This beach was located on the European side of Istanbul and was easy to access. I went to this beach using suburban line b2 and got off at Florya station, and after a short walk, I reached this beach.

I reached the beach at 7:30 am but just found out that this beach is only open from 8 am to 7 pm. I had to wait half an hour for the beach to open.

When I wanted to enter the beach, I was surprised because I thought it was a public beach and free to visit, but it wasn’t, and I paid about 30 lira with an Istanbulkart to enter.

Below, I mentioned the information I got about the price of Florya Beach:

  • Entrance ticket for students is 12 to 20 liras.
  • The use of Florya Beach is free for the age group under seven years old, disabled citizens and one accompanying disabled person.
  • The entrance ticket only includes the cost of cabin, shower and toilet.
  • There is no sun lounger rental fee.

My experience visiting Florya Beach

My experience visiting Florya Beach

After entering this beach and walking on the soft white sand, I went to one of the sunbeds and lay down on it. There are plenty of sunbeds on the beach, and anyone could use any of them.

After about 2 hours, many people came to the beach, which became quite crowded. Since I had been to this beach on the weekend, I expected a crowd. According to the staff of this beach, I realized that Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days on this beach, but fewer people visit it in the middle of the week.

On the beach, there were no restrictions on people’s clothing, and anyone could wear whatever they liked. Most of the men were wearing shorts, and most of the women were wearing bikinis.

My swimming experience at Florya Beach

My swimming experience at Florya Beach

This beach is one of the sea beaches of Marmara, and the sea water is calm enough to swim. Since the water is not too deep, you can swim in the sea with your wife and children.

The beach was not clean, and the sea water was dirtier than other beaches I had visited. Also, there was a lot of algae under the water, so I didn’t swim there much and spent most of my time reading my favourite book on the sunbed.

According to the conversations I had with the staff and my research, I found out that the municipality closed this beach in 2023 due to water pollution, but it was reopened in 2024. The reason for this beach’s closure was the sewage leakage from restaurants and hotels into the sea.

Who is this beach suitable for?

Floria beach restaurant

This beach has a calm and family atmosphere; you should not expect vibrancy or parties. This beach is more suitable for families rather than for single people. People bothered by crowds should not visit this beach because many people visit it due to its cheap entrance.

I advise those who plan to visit this beach to swim in the sea for a short time due to the dirty water and spend most of their time sunbathing and relaxing under the sun.

Floria beach facilities

  • Volleyball court
  • changing rooms
  • showers
  • Restaurants: There are several restaurants on the beach where you can try different Turkish dishes
  • Parking: There are parking lots around the beach

Note: There is no place to sell beach equipment, and there are no amenities such as jet ski rentals.

Best time to visit Floria Beach

The best time to visit this beach is in July, August and September.

Mid-week is a good time to go to this beach because it is quiet. If you plan to go to this beach on the weekend, visit from 8 am to 11 am when the beach is quieter.

In summary

I rate this beach 3.5 out of 5 because the beach is good for sunbathing but not for swimming.

Since this beach is a little far from the city centre and the sea water is dirty, I suggest you go to other beaches in Istanbul instead of visiting it. It is better to read the following articles to get more information and get to know other beaches in Istanbul.
