If you plan to travel to this area by plane, I must tell you bad news because Cappadocia has no airport. But there are two airports near this city, one of which is the International Airport of Erkilet Kayseri (ASR) in Kayseri, which is 80 km and about an hour away from the center of Cappadocia.

The second airport is Nevsehir Cappadocia Airport (NAV), located in Nevsehir, and is about 40 kilometers and 50 minutes away from the center of Cappadocia.

Kayseri is an important city in Turkey, and for this reason, one of the most famous airports in Turkey is located in this city. The 19th place of Turkish airports belongs to Erkilte International Airport. This airport is located 5 km from Kayseri city.

This international airport has a 3-kilometer runway that functions as a military base and a passenger airport. Seasonal international flights to Germany, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Vienna, and Kiev are carried out at this airport.🛫

This airport started its service in 1998 with domestic flights. Then, with the efforts of the officials of this city, the capacity of 500 people at this airport increased to one million people in a short time so that passengers could easily travel to this city and go to the Cappadocia region and enjoy balloon rides there.

Also, airport transportation services to the towns and villages of Cappadocia are provided by Argeus Travel & Events and Kamil Koc. Every 3 hours, you can get to the Goreme bus station in 50 minutes by paying about 10 dollars at the Kayseri bus station.

I suggest you visit its sightseeing areas after arriving in Kayseri and then go to Cappadocia because there are interesting historical places.

Nevsehir is located in the central region of Turkey. This city is bordered by Kirsehir Province in the northwest, Aksaray Province in the southwest, Nigde Province in the south, Qaisariah Province in the southeast, and Yozgat Province in the northeast.

Nevsehir region dates back to the Hittite Empire. About eight centuries BC, Nevsehir came under the rule of the Assyrians, and after that, it was ruled by the Medes and then by the Achaemenids.

Due to the points I mentioned above, this city has an important airport. Nevsehir Cappadocia Airport (NAV) was located 30 kilometers northwest of Nevsehir and opened in 1998. Airport transfer services are provided by Argeus Tourism & Travel. 

Turkish Airlines flies daily from Istanbul Airport to Nevsehir Airport. Also, Anadolujet flies to this airport from Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya.

  • Pro: It is 40 kilometers away from Cappadocia.
  • Con: It is a small airport with fewer facilities, so there are few flights.
