Tips and Travel of Turkey

Nearest Airport To Bodrum Turkey

Is there an airport in Bodrum, Turkey?

Turkey is one of the best destinations available for summer vacations. Any city you can think of in this country is a good travel destination. One of these cities is Bodrum in Turkey. Previously, in the articles “is Bodrum worth visiting” and “Antalya vs Bodrum,” I introduced and compared the city of Bodrum.

I had different ways to travel from Istanbul to Bodrum, but I chose to travel to this city by plane to reach this city in the shortest possible time.

Before buying the ticket, I didn’t know that Milas-Bodrum Airport was outside Bodrum City. After buying the plane ticket, I realized that the nearest airport to Bodrum, Milas-Bodrum Airport, is 36 kilometers from the city, and I have to travel this distance by taxi.

In the following, I will share my experience traveling to Bodrum through this airport and tell you everything I learned.

Milas Bodrum International airport has become one of the most important and busy airports in Turkey due to Bodrum’s tourist position, especially in busy seasons such as summer.

Bodrum Airport to city

You can use several methods to go from this airport to the center of Bodrum, or any other destination you want. My first suggestion is to use the buses that are stationed at the airport 24 hours a day. They go from the airport to the city center within an hour and cost 5 euros.

There are other public transport companies in this airport that you can use. Like other airports, Bodrum Airport also has airport taxis in its place. These taxis are usually in front of domestic and international flight terminals and are easy to access. Taxi costs around 15 euros in 2024.

I got myself from the airport to the city center using the guide I read on the welcomepickups website, and I suggest you read it too.

This airport is small compared to the Istanbul airport, and I did not spend much time there. I only took a general look to familiarize myself with its facilities.

Among the facilities available at Bodrum International Airport are dedicated cabins for smokers, communication corridors between terminals, banking services, ATMs, various exchange offices, a 24-hour medical center, and parking spaces for passengers of both airports and shops for buying souvenirs and some restaurants and cafes in these terminals can be mention.

Bodrum Airport has two passenger terminals for domestic and international flights divided into domestic and foreign. The biggest terminal is Bodrum International Airport. This terminal was put into operation in 1998 for international flights.

However, in 2012, this terminal changed its use to a domestic flight terminal instead of international flights with the start of the new terminal and hall. Both terminals of Bodrum International Airport are located next to each other and have a total capacity of 5.2 million passengers per year.

As we said in the top line, because the number of daily flights at this airport increases significantly during the summer, especially from Europe and Asia, the capacity of more than 5 million people per year has been considered for the new terminal of this airport or the international terminal.
