Istiklal St

When I got off the metro at Taksim Square, I quickly made my way to Istiklal Street because since I arrived in Istanbul, everyone has been suggesting I visit this street. That’s why I introduce this street to you first.

Istiklal Street is located in the European part of the city and extends from Taksim Square to Galata Tower and is about 1.5 kilometers long.

When I was walking on this street, there were many people on this street, and they were shopping or visiting.

Many shops on both sides of this street sell all kinds of goods. For example, famous international brands such as Adidas, Nike, Cotton and Turkish brands have branches there, and you can shop.

But you should know that when you enter one of these shops, the sellers will try to persuade you to buy from them. If you don’t like to buy something, just tell them Teshekkur (means thank you) and leave the shop.

On this street, there are restaurants and clubs that you can visit if you wish. But I suggest you not to enter them because they are usually expensive and not of good quality due to the touristic nature of this area.

To go to this street, just go to Taksim Square in Beyoğlu. This street can be easily seen from Taksim Square.

If you are interested in this street, it is better to read the article ” Beyoglu Shopping Center“.

Bağdat St

I love the Asian side of Istanbul because it is quieter than the European side, and I can feel peace.

But not everywhere on the Asian side is quiet, and some areas like Bağdat Street are full of people during the whole day.

This street is the most famous shopping street on the Asian side of Istanbul, and in other words, it is the Asian rival of Istiklal Street.

The length of this street is about 14 kilometres, and it leads to two famous parts of Istanbul, Maltepe and Kadıköy. Due to the length of this street, I could not visit all of it, but I tried to visit the most important parts and provide you with the necessary information.

Unlike Istiklal Street, where cars are not allowed to enter, cars pass through the middle of Bağdat Street, and shops are located on both sides of the street.

This street is full of hotels, restaurants, shops, stylish boutiques, brand agencies and more. There are also several luxury car showrooms and banks on this street. All these features have increased the price of houses on Bağdat Street in Istanbul.

From what I saw on this street, there are fewer tourists on this street and most locals who live on the Asian side go to this street to buy luxury goods.

The interesting thing is that this street is located near the sea of Marmara and you can watch this sea after shopping and enjoy its pleasant weather.

If you are in the European part of Istanbul, the best way to get to Bağdat Street is to go from Taksim Square to Kabataş. Then, take the tram in Kabataş and get to the Eminönü area.

Eminönü has a pier where you can board special ships and reach the Asian side. The ship stops in the Kadıköy district. This neighbourhood is located near Bağdat Street.
